I can't get through it. I think the story would be interesting, but it's so dull to read. Just make a Lifetime movie and get it over with.

Hmm. I just had to read it - the latest "need to read" book. I was somewhat underwhelmed. It probably could have used a good book group discussion for me. I was disappointed at the fact that the boy couldn't speak functionally normal English at the age of five after living exclusively with a regular talking mom and TV to learn from. I admired the mom for doing a wonderful job of protecting this child in such a bizarre situation and was surprised that she reverted to a somewhat more shallow self upon reentering the real world. I guess no one's perfect and she rose to the occasion for her son. Talk about being a 'Tiger Mother'! Maybe it was all too contrived as a story for me.Screen play anyone?
