** spoiler alert ** September 18, 2014 I loved reading this book again. It really does pack an emotional punch for me. I love the side stories that add richness to the plot. I love seeing the character development (except that Ginny is practically absent from the book). And I am surprised by the little mistakes in the book. Did they get fixed in later additions? No matter. Love the book. July 5, 2009 This is the first of the Harry Potter books to grab me emotionally - it happened the first time I read it and it happened again this time. And, no, it isn't when Cedric dies. This is the first of the series to begin somewhere other than Privet Drive. I really like these books and I am so happy to be reminded of that by rereadig them after all this time. I feel that Rowling does a good job of developing characters, even the lesser ones. There is still a real sense of who these people are and I like that a lot. Rowling's writing is actually improving, too. I thought it was really good to begin with. It's all about telling a story that keeps my attention. Then you add the layers of thought, character, and emotion and that makes a book really great to me.

Paradise Lost, by Kate Brian, is book nine of the Private series, my favorite series of all time, but I was not that impressed with this book. You see, The Private Series is a romance/murder mystery series that I have been reading since I was 12. I buy the new book the day it comes out, I read Kate Brian's blog for updates, I am pretty much addicted to this series and expect to be highly entertained with every book. I hate to say it, but I was disappointed with this one. These books have all been extremely suspensful, to the point where its impossible to put them down and you find yourself unable to stop thinking about the books days, even weeks after you finished them. They've all revealed something at the very end that puts the pieces together, and at the same time, left you hanging, dying to read the next one. This one didn't. Yes, there was romance. Quite a lot of romance, actually. And yes, there was mystery. But nothing was revealed. No series of events were finally connected to show a bigger picture. Nothing was solved. I was left wanting more, but more from a feeling of lack, not from being left hanging. I look forward to reading the next book in the series, I won't give up quite that quickly, but I fear dissatisfaction once again. I have high expectations for this series, and I hate being disappointed.
