Such vivid story telling. I could see the house and smell the erosion occuring. I couldn't wait for Euginide's next book. Unfortunately, we all had to wait long...

For me, not as good as the first book in the series. I really want to give this a 3.5 rating. It reads much more slowly than His Majesty's Dragon, and I often found myself surprised at how little page-count I'd advanced in an hour or two of reading. I enjoyed it it, it's just that Naomi's writing style is very dense, packing a lot of information into a short space, and by its very nature political intrigue does not reas as fast as action. The first book had more action in it than this, thus the quicker read.
