**Reviewer disclaimer - I am a friend of the author!** I read STATIC in less than twenty-four hours, after my "early night" turned into a rather late one because I just couldn't put this book down. The shifts (heh, pun) in POV really made the story work. I got into the mind of both characters and really felt for both of them. Their emotions, thoughts, doubts and fears made the story very real, even though it's urban fantasy. The author really caught humanity's prejudices, especially towards anything different, and that was quite bleak, even though she hinted at the changes slowly coming about. The contrast between Alex's parents/office co-workers and his friends at the club was polar, giving a real sense of community (and true family, imo). In short, Damon and Alex's story kept me utterly enthralled and I'm rather sad to be at the end.
