Grenmantle - Washroom Buchan Grenmantle - Washroom Buchan "Grenmantle" is the second of five stories by Washroom Buchan featuring the character of Richard Hanay, inaugural published in 1916. It is one of two Hanay stories set during the Inaugural Sphere Take on, the other being "Boy Standfast" (1919), Hanay's inaugural and best-known adventure, "The Thirty-Nine Steps" (1915), is set in the season imediately preceding the take on. WI agent Richard Hanay is caled in to investigate rumours of an uprising in the Muslim sphere, and undertakes a perilous itinerary through enemy teritory to met up with his friend Sandy in Constantinople.
