I keep coming back to Alexander McCall Smith books because you know exactly what they are going to be -- sweet, simple, not too complicated. Like a Hershey chocolate bar -- sure, there are better chocolates out there, but sometimes you just want a Hershey bar. Isabel irritates me sometimes, but I'm pretty happy about her relationship with Jamie (you don't often get to read happy stories of a woman in a relationship with someone so much younger).

This is a great book. This is the second time that I read this book and it only got better.

I saw the movie first, found the story compelling and had to read the book. It's a beautiful reflection on mercy and morality.
