(Book 1 of the Word and Void Trilogy) Running with the Demon, by Terry Brooks, is a dark fiction that takes place in modern day, in a small town of sinsnappi, Illonis. (sorry if spelling is wrong) Nest Freemark is your average everday girl except she has a unique power to comand magic. Whille she doesn't completely understand it all, she knows that magic has been part of her family for three generations, the daugter of each generation. She currently lives with her grandparents where it is summer vacation and she spends most of her time with her friends. Unknowing to her a demon, a creature of dark magic, has entered the same small town where he starts to cause trouble with his dark magic and somehow seems to regonize Nest for who she really is. While at the same time a knight enter the town, not a knight in shinning armour, but an ordinary thirty year old man who go's by the name John Ross. His job is to protect Nest and hunt down the demon before the demon carrys out his plans that could eventally cause the world to fall into an acopolipse. It is up to Nest to maintain her average life with her friends, while battling in a fight that will cause her to question what exactly is good and evil.
