I don't often write reviews but this warranted one. I don't know what happened to Ally Condie between Matched and this, but I sincerely hope it doesn't happen again between Crossed and the final book. Matched was brilliant to me: a romantic Giver-like book and I raved that it was my favorite of all the dystopians I read last year. But this is EMBARRASSING because I've rec'd Matched like crazy and now my poor friends will have to read THIS. 1) Absolutely nothing happens. 2) Only one cool realization is included. Which makes us all ditch Ky and go for Xander. I wonder if that's what Condie was trying for: making a book so dull that we would WANT Xander instead. 3) I could NEVER gets the POVs correct. I had to constantly check and see who the hell was talking. Cassia and Ky are absolutely indistinct as characters in this narrative, almost like they become one person (and not in a sweet romantic way). 4) The ending was garbage. At least Matched had a push forward. This? Raise your hand if you care enough anymore about Ky for them to meet? Anyone? Bueller? 5) I like poetry. But LORD, lighten up. A relationship isn't poetry so don't spend 200 pages on it. I don't want to be too rude. I swear. And I will definitely read the last book, but PLEASE WRITER GODS don't let this book happen again.
