This is an account of how the 27th Infantry Regiment of the Ottoman Empire became the first Turkish unit to face the famous ANZAC forces of the British Empire in Gallipoli on 25 April 1915. Hence, it opens a window to a side of the Campaign largely ignored in the vast, multinational literature on Gallipoli.
