This book was truly a treat. I loved the gradual change in the writing style as Sarah grew older and more mature and was more well-read. She was a delightful, spunky character, and there were actually times I laughed out loud. It really was so well written. I really debated what rating to give this book because I loved it so much, but there were some difficult/hard/sad parts, as well as a few entries that made me uncomfortable. I listened to this book on CD, and the narrator was amazing, so if you're worried about getting through the difficult grammar, spelling, etc., during the first part, I would highly recommend listening to it. I was a little disappointed, but not surprised, by the sad ending. And can I just say that I loved Captain Jack Elliot?
