In the beginning, at her birthday party at the Cullen's, she manages to get a paper cut opening one of her presents. Jasper, the new "vegetarian", is overwhelmed and tries to attack Bella. She is protected by the rest of the family, and everything settles down. The Cullen's move to keep Bella protected from them. She ends up becoming very depressed and finds and old friend, Jacob, and confides in him. She soon figures out that dangerous behavior makes Edwards voice come into her head. So she starts acting stupidly. One day, she jumps off a cliff. She is caught in the rip tide but Jacob saves her. Alice sees this, but not the rescue. Rosalie tells Edward the wrong story on accident and Edward goes to the Volturi to be "exicuted." Alice and Bella get there just in time to stop him from killing himself
