Great Book! This book reminded me why Romance was my first love in reading. A little mystery, a little intrigue, and a hot page turner!
Just like all the other books, so it was cool.
This book started out very well, with good character development and an interesting plot. I was somewhat disappointed by the ending as I felt Eugenides was racing toward a conclusion too quickly. After comprehensive character histories and plot developments, it was wrapped up too neatly in a bow. However, I still give it four stars for creativity and character development.
I picked this up in new orleans to pass time, and didn't pick it up again till recently. It's an interesting book for those that have paid attention to the tradition and are ready for yet another critique of reason. it's dense but well written, and he prepares a bit of a cleared field for the more substantial phenomenolgists to follow. I enjoy his positive criticism of natural and historical philosophies, as he doesn't become melodramatic or condemnatory. But, nothing particularly novel. His thought is clear and elloquent, for which reason, a pleasure to read, but not a real eye opener. a great sleeping pill with a warm beer. I recommend this to any one who takes materialism to an annoying extreme.
