This was an excellent read. Alex is date-raped her junior year at boarding school. The school likes to think that their students are perfect, so the students have their own justice system. This justice system is named the Mockingbirds. I was impressed with all of the checks and balances that they had in place.....It was very well done. I worried that a vigilante system of justice would be a huge mistake, but in this case it really worked. The author did an excellent job of writing about Alex and her confusion over her actions and if she deserved to be raped since she was drunk. The book very clearly took the stance that if you are unable to consent, are sleeping, are drunk, you are not giving consent. If you do not say no it does not mean yes. Very well done. An excellent book with a powerful message.
