Alright, so I did like this book better than the first one. Ione does a brilliant job of drawing you into this crazy world of demons, and if you keep remembering that you're dealing with demons, it's much easier to like the characters and the story. There were many times in this book where I said ewww or gross, and probably visibly shuddered. It's gritty and dirty, and made me uncomfortable several times, and yet I still liked it. How can this author make me care if a sex demon finds happiness and peace? You kind of have to look at life from a completely different angle. Yeah, he's a sex demon, but wouldn't that be a crappy life? It's not like you're doing all that lovin' for fun. I liked the relationship between Shade and Runa, though I felt Tayla and Eidolon had a better connection in the first book. Shade was such a sad character, the power he had was almost tortuous to him even though he helped others with it. I wish we could've seen more of their previous relationship. I don't like it when a book opens with a reunion of two people who have a huge history that we know nothing about. The best parts of this book were between Gem and Kynan...I'm pretty bummed at how that's turned out for now and hope there is more to come in the future with them. I am excited to read Wraith's story...finding out what E has been going through probably could've straightened him out a long time ago.
