Ok, first of all I need to make clear that I own the hardcover of this beast of a book. At 1300+ pages it's a monster of information. It tires me just to pick it up and read it. But, there's much about European history in the book that most people don't know about. What I found of value was the "Plates". These were the boxed paragraphs on random events that get mention in the book at various places. The Plates were a kind of side bar. The book is a good start for getting a general knowledge European history. Thousands of years are covered. I'm always using the book as a referance to look things up.
