My favorite Lamb novel. This book takes you through so much in the tale of adult twin brother. One brother schizophrenic, and in the one of the best openings in novel history, he cuts off his left hand in protest of the first war in Iraq. I will warn that the book is over 1,000 pages, but it is so much more than worth it. The characters will feel like family by the time you are half way through. Lamb does an excellent job of getting readers to connect with characters.
I liked this book more than John Grisham's lawyer books. The character is very likeable and the slice of Italy was delightful. My only disappointment was that he couldn't marry the girl instead of just living with her.
I really enjoyed this adventure and how it forshadowed Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan. But I also liked the fact that we finally saw what happened to Spock's son Zar even though Spock himself decides not to view the recording that he made after saving his son and returned back to the Enterprise.
