I read this for a new segment on The Peorian TV show called "Kevin Reads Stuff So You Don't Have To", where I read books that most people have neither the time nor inclination to read, but might learn something interesting from. Some examples: - You know the movie “300”? Well, the real story of the 300 is in here, how they stood up to Xerxes with his multinational force, and how Xerxes and his multinational force slaughtered them. Like really, really slaughtered them bad. Lots of slaughtering went on back then. One might call it a slaughter culture, or a slaughture. - They not only killed for punishment, they did it as commemoration. For example, on the first anniversary of the death of their king, the Scythians would take the 50 best horsemen and horses and strangle them – yes, they strangled horses. But that’s just the start. They then mounted the horses on wheels, along with the dead horsemen on their backs and made them to "ride away". Good stuff, that.
