I read the free internet version of this book several times and love it! I love it for the fictional story value--great characters and wonderful, interesting plot-- but I also love it for the instructional value about what might be needed in a serious emergency situation.

I loved this book for the exact reason so many people didn't. I love that Kate Morton describes everything in such detail. For me, it makes my reading experience richer, not dull or sluggish. I want to know what the characters are seeing, or thinking, or going through. If you are more interested in what happened than in why it happened, this may not be the book for you. But, if like me, you enjoy history and you revel in rich detail, you'll love Morton's latest effort.

This is a really funny book. Spencer has too many toys and his mother is going crazy. Spencer, so savvy, negotiates with his mom which toys go and which one stays. The ending is just the best!

Didn't like the premise of the novel that selfishness makes the inventors of the world. Clunky writing style!
