Very interesting book - not your typical murder mystery. It was more like a surreal fantasy/mystery, set in the real world of 1940s-50s but in a parallel universe. Definitely a page-turner, but I had two complaints: 1) I kept getting the characters of Edwin and Arthur confused. They may have had similar physical descriptions which didn't help. 2) It felt rushed at the end with everything being very quickly tied up so that was a bit dissatisfying.
I couldn't believe this book was actually Høeg's debut. The reality and the dream woven together with such a skill Marquez can only dream of.
