Even though Ruth Reichl is known for being a stellar food critic, she is also an immensely talented author. Her memoirs are sensual in every way. She interweaves stories of food and cooking with her favorite and sometimes traumatic life experiences. I promise you won't be able to put this book down and you may even try a recipe or two that she includes in all of her books. If you're not a foodie I still recommend this book because of it's humor and drama. We may not have all had bipolar mothers and gone to school in France, but we all were children once. Her other two books: Comfort me with Apples & Garlic and Sapphires are also excellent.
