Meh. Too many phrases like "It was hot, like the inside of car on a sunny day". That's not a quote. Just an example. I also couldn't get into the Loyd character. He was just not my kind of guy. I liked the political part of the book, though. David vs. Goliath always has it's appeal.

i gave old dougal some credit for this one up until the point i read "the butcher boy" then i realised he'd pretty much just copied it. besides the fact he accidentally kills his girlfriend. that's the major twist in the book incidentally, but i've really saved you the bother of reading it. it's well done, but go read "the butcher boy" instead.
