Dr. Hannibal Lecter is a character that I love to hate. The novel is gory but not scary. Though the ending gave me the creeps.

Classic vampire story that crossed the lines of 1800s social/sexual taboos. What was required reading for a high school class, became one of my favorites. (No "sparkly" vampires here!) I own an old leather-bound copy that appears to be as old as the story.
