I've often wondered why this book isn't used in whatever they're calling "sex education" these days. Jane Eyre toys with the idea of remaining and becoming her lover's mistress. Two things convice her what a bad idea this is: 1) her christian faith and 2) the obvious disdain with which he regards his past mistresses. Jane decides she does not want to be added to that list.
