These main characters are pathetic.

The latest installment in the No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency series does not fail to please. Mme. Makutse is planning her wedding and buying her shoes; Mme. Ramotswe sees the ghost of her old white van; Charlie has fathered twins; and the only mystery--sort of solved--is the killing of cattle belonging to a wealthy "gentleman" farmer, who is not a likeable guy. We don't read these for they mysteries but for the characters and the wisdom, and there is plenty to like in this edition.
