I love this series. I have not loved Nora Roberts other books, but I really like the way she handles these characters and the world they live in. It's nice to see that there is actually some growth in the hard as nails but brittle as glass Eve Dallas in the last couple of books.

This is a not-well-known precursor to Time Enough for Love, well worth reading this addtional history of that story if you enjoied Time Enough for Love.

Saeculum, so nennt sich die Rollenspiel-Gruppe von Sandra, dem Mädchen, auf das der Medizin-Student Bastian ein Auge geworfen hat. Klar, dass er sich da nicht lumpen lässt, mit zu einer sogenannten Convention zu fahren, um ihr ein wenig näher zu kommen. Doch die abergläubische Doro beharrt darauf, dass der Ort verflucht ist.... dass sie damit garnicht so unrecht hat, stellt Bastian fest, als es fast zu spät ist. Erebos hatte ja schon ein fulminantes Finale, doch Saeculum setzt dem noch ein Krönchen auf. Unglaublich, dieser Spannungsbogen! Fast 500 Seiten purer Nervenkitzel. Natürlich gab es Seiten, die einfach als Füller gedacht waren, doch selbst die waren noch spannend. Durch die Erzählweise lernt man alle wichtigen Charaktere auf ihre eigene Art kennen, das fand ich besonders gut. Die eingeschobenen Kapitel auf den schwarzen Seiten waren teilweise verwirrend und teilweise haben sie gute Hinweise geliefert, den weiteren Verlauf zu erahnen, was aber nicht negativ gemeint ist. Es hat echt geholfen, ein wenig Licht ins Dickicht zu bringen. Bastian war meiner Meinung nach ein wirklich interessanter Protagonist, obgleich er nicht so wahnsinnig herausgestochen ist. Er war eben ein ganz normaler junger Mann, mit Ängsten und Pflichten und Gefühlen. Abschließend lässt sich sagen, dass Saeculum ein absolutes Muss für jeden Fan des Jugend-Thrillers ist. Oder des Thrillers an sich. (Außerdem muss ich erwähnen, dass Ursula Poznanski auch noch eine super-sympathische Frau ist!)

It's very easy to get swept up in her philosophy. Anyone with a hint of ego can't help but to fall prey. The book is absurdly long, but worth it, although stylistically its not that different from The Fountainhead, which is shorter. Her philosophy for life is inspiring, but in reality its impossible to live this way. As with any philosophy, it needs to be adjusted to way we really live.

Out of the whole "HP" books, is this anyone's favorite?
