The story itself was just ok. We didn't really enjoy the witch woman. The use of Chinese characters was brilliant though. My 6 year old was reading the translations, memorizing them, and could identify 2/3 of the ones in the book after only 2 readings. I was very impressed. This was a very accessible book and enjoyed by all.

I started reading this in high school and couldn't finish it because I was so disturbed by both the language and the scenarios it depicted. So I tried it again a year ago, and I was still disturbed, but I made myself finish it. Primarily this book served to make me resolve a few things about what I will never do to my children...
