I loved this book! Laurie Faria Stolarz never lets me down. Her books are always amazing, and I've loved each and every one of them.

This is such a great book. With so many works dedicated to our 16th President, I was weary about choosing the right Lincoln book to read. And this was it. The book essentially is a 4 part comparative biography of Lincoln and his eventual rivals for the 1860 Presidential nomination. In addition to Goodwin's beautiful prose, what makes this book compelling is that you better understand the life and times of Mr. Lincoln through comparison of his contempories. It is one thing to read about a historical figure in a vacuum; it is wholly another to read about five contemporary figures living lives that begin apart and slowly intertwine. Fascinating read. I recommend it highly.
