May 12, 2012 Even better the second time around, regardless of the fact that I already knew what would happen. I like to wolf pack more and more, and I really enjoyed the chapters narrated by Jacob. The vampires and interesting and likeable, but the werewolves are exponentially more so for me. Glad I reread it. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- August 22, 2011 Silly me, thinking that this was a trilogy and reading this book only to find out that there is one left in the series that I skipped! My bad. Anywhoo... this was a pleasant read. I like how Meyer went from Bella's narration to Jacob's. He cracks me up. Meyer did a very good job with his voice. He really sounds like a teenage boy, and a very likeable teenage boy at that. Even the chapter titles, such as "Sure As Hell Didn't See That One Coming," and "Too-Much-Information Alert" brought a smile to my face in his section of the book, whereas the titles that are narrated by Bella feel more like informative titles that the author chose. *spoiler alert* The plot itself is very good. How can it not be when there is a human-vampire wedding, which actually results in conception during the honeymoon and then a werewolf imprints on the child, who is so adorable that, yes, even the werewolf falls for her charm AND swears to protect her even if it means dying for her. Naturally, her life is threatened, and there is a lovely climax with loads of stuff going on as the vampires' world holds a few more surprises, which thankfully guarantees that this book, being the fourth in the series, is NOT repetitive. Even with the same old vilains, the Volturi, showing their ugly parched faces again. AND, of course, I love the plot because there is a happy ending. This book wouldn't really fit into my escapism streak if it were any different. ;)
This is an art mystery and usually right up my alley. It never really took off for me; the mystery/solution was not that interesting. The characters were OK. I believe it is part of a series but I will not be rushing out for any of the others, any time soon.
