Less government, not more!
Actually, a rather interesting read, if one were curious about what the ethical implications (as opposed to the spiritual suppositions)of Christianity might be. Extra fun to read what Jesus' social program requires of us and then to compare to the "Christianity" of today's conservatives. The slave-holding Jefferson himself, obviously, did not live up to the ideals. Etcetera.
"A sombra do vento é um mistério literário passado na Barcelona da primeira metade do século XX, desde os últimos esplendores do Modernismo atá às trevas do pós-guerra. Um inesquecível relato sobre os segredos do coração e o feitiço dos livros num crescendo de suspense que se mantém até à última página."
Minor-league Marquez; even this dirty-old-man reader didn't much enjoy this slight dirty-old-man tale.
I read this inbetween challenge books. I really enjoyed the book. Classic story. I loved the heroine and the hero. I don't know what to say about this story other than I really enjoyed it. I hope another story comes out about the brother, though I was hoping the brothers would live closer together and their stories could intertwine. I do recommend this book even though I'm weak on my comments.
The inspiration for the movie "Hotel Rwanda"
** spoiler alert ** I loved this book. I thought that it was a great way of showing that no matter the circumstance, everything is still always about power and control. Class and status disparities soon emerge between the different animal species, with the pigs being "in charge". The pigs manipulate and twist how the other animals think and see things. The pigs teach themselves how to read and write, and eventually start wearing clothes. The pigs gain all control, and the other animals have no choice but to follow suit. As the story says, "All animals are equal, some animals are more equal than others".
