I was bored for the first 35 pages or so, but once I began to warm to Auden I also began to warm to this book. It makes me feel old, though, that the adult character (Heidi) is 26. Um, so am I. This also happened with Lock and Key, where I identified more with Jamie, the adult, than with the teenage protagonist. Eh. Now I feel old.

I read this book several years ago, but will definitely include it in my "books to read more than once" list. This book has stayed with me due to its wonderful depiction of the development of this amazing state in which I live. Even readers who are not from Florida can enjoy this book because it is so much more than history. The characters are so well developed you feel as if you have actually known them. This book is one of my all time favorites!
