This was a fairly good read until the end. Even if it is setting up for a supposed sequel, the ending leaves a bitter, unsatisfied taste in the mouth.

I’m not a big history buff, but I do love historical fiction and historical fantasy when it doesn’t push too many facts on me. This one was wonderful! I loved Amelia as an unassuming young woman that was trying to do the right thing and remain true to herself at the same time. A dark storyline with moments of lightness had me from the start. Mitchell seamlessly flowed from current to the past without feeling like you were in a flashback. Knowing from the first chapter that something has happened to cause such drastic action against Amelia only made me want to get to the end. The journey there was enjoyable and it’s a book that could be read in one sitting. I’m hoping that the storyline will be continued in another book as I’d love to see where it could go from the ending. There is so much possibility with Amelia’s gift.

I have just skim re-read this and all I have to say is that this HORROR book masquerading as romance should be read by all teenage girls and discussed together with a responsible adult figure. Maybe it is a "good romance book" to read as a WARNING what the young girls and women should watch out for. It is even more scary the fact that I read somewhere that this book is autobiographical.
