I discovered Nancy A. Collins years (years!) ago, and fell in love with her work. In my opinion she was highly overlooked, and desreved way more vampire credit! I even own a signed copy!

Lisa See has written another great book-this time a sequel to the Shanghai Girls. This book continues the story of Pearl and Mae through the views of Pearl and their daughter Joy. This story is about the bounds of a mothers love and the willfull actions of the nineteen year old Joy. When Joy runs off to China to be a part of the "great leap forward" Pearl follows her to try and save her. Impeccably researched and written, this book tells about relationships, families and the lengths that people will go to for those they love.
