OK. Confession time. After I finished New Moon, I went ahead and read spoilers to see how the series ended. And was taken aback. Because things take a turn for the very weird. I was concerned how Meyer was going to pull off such an odd chain of events without making all her readers roll their eyes in disbelief, but I went ahead and finished the series anyway, and am glad I did, although some problems do still remain. As in the previous books, her strength lies in making her characters likeable (alhtough I would still argue Edward is terribly uninteresting). Bella, Jacob Black, in fact all the wolves, an engaging lot. I've continually enjoyed the pack psychology, I think the wolves are one of the great strengths of the series, frankly. Now for those aforementioned odd twists.. well. I won't be all spoilerrific, but they are relatively outlandish. Still, Meyer does a good enough job of having the action roll along that the reader is inclined not to overly nitpick it (at least I was). I was also surprised in that the events I thought would conclude the series took place only halfway through the book. After that, you're treated to some amusing insights about the vampire world, a universe of peculiar complications and a huge, dramatic crisis that could doom them all. In other words, fun reading! I felt this a satisfying conclusion. And naysayers can bite me! ;)
