I hate it when I dislike a book. I really don't like writing reviews about how poorly written some books are. Because let's face it, I couldn't do any better. But holy cow!!! I should have listened to my 12 year old when he told me this book was boring! Here we have yet again another Harry Potter wannabe (you know, young boy who lives a horrible existence realizes he has magical powers and sets off to defeat evil enemy), but without the graceful prose of J.K. Rowling. The biggest problem was the characters. They were all very weak and undeveloped. I will forgive bad writing if the characters are great, but I can't forgive both. I had zero empathy for anyone, especially for Leven who spent most of the book moping around. Second, the ending was such a let down. They finally get to Foo, this wonderful, magical place and all we get for our 300 pages of build up is a couple of measly paragraphs. Very disappointing.
