Ellen Davies, the Mayor of Emerald Point on LG and her friend Diane Anderson, find a dead body in the middle of a smoldering fire in the center of Diane and her ex-husband's lakeside livingroom. Jim Thompson, the Warren Co. Sheriff investigator interrogates both of them at the Marlborough House Inn where Ellen later discovers Georgia O'Keeffe knock off paintings. Someone tries to kill Ellen when she becomes involved. Josie Donahue, the teenage daughter of Kate who owns a cafe and catering business disappears. Kate is Ellen's best friend and when she tries to find her, she uncovers Berhart, an art dealer from NYC, taking crates of phony paintings out of the Inn. She finds Josie in the basement of the Inn and is able to call the sheriff's office to arrest the forgers.
