Dash, the second book in the Saderia Series by Sarah Renée, continues the story of Saderia, the Tiger Princess. This story introduces a new major character, one we caught an anonymous glimpse of in the first book; a young lion named Dashenirus – Dash. Saderia is happily beginning regular school for the first time in her life, but is facing challenges because she is not a regular animal; she is a princess. In addition to the expected adjustments of starting anything new, she is also facing prejudice - not only from students, but from teachers and administration - because of her royal heritage. Everyone expects her to act like a spoiled, pampered princess, something she has never been or wanted to be, and she is greeted with varying amounts of unearned or deserved anger, suspicion and distrust. But Saderia shows her toughness and unwillingness to give up, proving once again to be a positive main character role-model. She finds a real friend, and also reaches out a paw to lonely, sad and mysterious Dash. And then the adventure begins. Dash is a story of friendship and acceptance. But there are sinister undertones and Saderia’s confusing prophetic dreams seem to indicate trouble ahead for the two young animal friends. As a reader, you will find yourself rooting for both Dash and Saderia, and crossing your fingers for a happy ending. The cover art, also by Sarah Renée, is wonderful!
