I have finally read the eleventh volume in the popular “Fruits Basket” series by Natsuki Takaya and man was this volume way more intense than the other volumes I have read! In this volume, Tohru is finding out about the Sohma family’s many deadly secrets about themselves that would put her world into jeopardy. Also, to add on to the startling secrets of the Sohma family, an enraged horse comes after Tohru! Could this horse be apart of the zodiac and why is it chasing after Tohru? Also, Kyo finally reveals his true feelings for Tohru to Akito, but will he risk Tohru’s life in telling Akito the whole truth about his feelings for Tohru? And finally, Akito finally reveals his dastardly plans for the Sohma family that will make their lives miserable for the rest of their lives! Wow! So much has happened in this volume that it will take me a long time to go through almost everything that has happened in this volume! First of all, I think that this volume is the huge turning point for the entire series because not only do we realize Kyo’s true feelings for Tohru, but we also discovered what will become of the Sohma family’s future and Akito’s true identity! In the earlier volumes, it was vague about what Akito’s true identity is, even though it is hinted that the Sohma family fears him, but after reading this volume, I was just so shocked beyond words about Akito’s true identity because I never seen this one coming, although it would explain why everyone fears Akito so much. I also loved the way that Kyo briefly stood up to Akito in confessing his true feelings for Tohru because it showed his softer and maybe vulnerable side to himself that I rarely saw in the series up until this point and that part of Kyo made me really love his character even more. It was also interesting yet frightening at the same time that we get to see Akito’s frightening nature as he will hurt anyone, especially the Sohma family, if he does not get his way and it kind of makes me hate his character because of the terror he inflicts on the Sohma family. Be forewarned that there are some really intense scenes in this volume, especially the scenes involving Akito who practically plays horrible mind games with the Sohma family and even hurts them if they do not do what he says. Anyone who does not like reading about certain characters harming another person might want to steer away from this volume, unless they want to know Akito’s true identity and what will become of the Sohma family. All in all, “Fruits Basket: Volume 11” is a very emotional volume that will have everyone either in tears or wishing for more to happen in this fantastic series!
