After reading the first book, I couldn't see what the fuss was about this series. I figured I'd give it a chance and at lease read the first 3 and decide from there if I would continue further. I can say wait to start reading Dead to the World next. I cannot believe what a jerk Bill has developed into. I'm not liking him one bit! Interesting meeting Alcide & seeing Sookie's releationship evolving with Eric. Looking forward to seeing how things develope.

First book of 2010 (first half read in '09), and I'm disappointed. That's upsetting to me. It's not that this is a bad book. The suspense is rather good. But the technical jargon is just SO HEAVY HANDED. And so completely unnecessary. When he's walking Amelia through the scene, I dug that part. But the mass spectrometer flux capacitor they used to inspect the dirt? Hi. I don't need to know all of that. Overall, I was disappointed. But it could've been a lot worse. I don't plan on continuing this series.

Read this b/c my son read it last year for high school. Not sure it was what I expected, since the cover of the old paperback had a Black Power/New Africa vibe, with such anachronisms as a hand holding a pistol. Fascinating description of Nigerian village life at the turn of the 20 th century, but the protagonist remained a puzzle to me.
