It's a little book. I can't take those seriously. But I saw it on here and I read it. I thought it was just a novelty item.
Love, love, love this book. While I'm sure it deserved the Newbery, I almost wish it hadn't won it. The award makes it seem like it is for a younger audience, but this is really for people just beginning their explorations with romance -- in my experience, 9th grade girls have loved it, but any 6th grader I've given it to finds it a snooze. They are better served by Perkins's earlier book, All Alone in the Universe, which is about that middle school phenomenon of changing friendships.
