Ronan McBride loses his family's bar and they are basically forced to raffle it off in America. Carlene is the winner of the pub who shocks everyone, in America and in Ireland, when she actually comes to run the Pub. Ballybeog is a tight knit community, and it's not quite clear how they feel about the "yank". Some people blatantly want her gone and some can't decide. She falls in with Ronan McBride, the old pub owner and notorious gambler. You know the two are going to get together, but the waiting just about killed me. I wasn't prepared for one thing... The swearing. There are quite a few F-bombs in the book. I didn't particularly mind, and it makes sense since it takes place in Ireland, but some readers might be offended if they weren't expecting it. This is a fun read, and it definitely had some romance novel appeal. I recommend it to romance novel lovers who don't mind a bit of swearing, and fans of Ireland.

Amazingly touching stories about Indians and Indian-Americans, the immigrant experience, family relationships, loneliness and love. The writing is graceful, the characters are fascinating, the themes are compelling.
