This book was really interesting, especially as it's theoretically YA. It took me a while to get into, partly because the writing is rather dense and a little too "I have a great vocabulary" for me. However, the characters really won me over, and in the end, the story is compelling and interesting, and I liked it in the end.
Exciting and enticing. Lacey's life in Manhattan in the art world, and how she builds her own career from almost nothing (except her own personality like spunk and sass) is infectious. She's able to live an uptown and downtown life at the same time, though we're constantly reminded that the two are wholly separate. So far, she's climbing up the art-world ladder, and I can't help but imagine that she's about to fall down. She's a gambler who takes risks and seems to win all the time. When she doesn't, she finds a way to make it seem like she hasn't lost a thing. Steve Martin can do it all.
