This is the book that I always recommend when someone asks that "Know a good book?" question. I've never encountered the reader who doubled as a hater.

Really enjoyable. Well-written, great description of the setting of the time period.

just stared this book ! and its lame :(

The first story and the title story are wonderful; otherwise, this collection seems targeted to an audience fairly unfamiliar with Indian culture and/or Indian-American culture. That audience was enthralled by this book, whereas many Indian readers couldn't see what all the fuss was about. Old stories -- told pretty well, but not *so* well that they become new.
