Because the majority of the pieces in this book were published in various magazines, there's a lot of iterations of the same ideas over and over. On top of that, if you watch his tv show, there are some episode companion pieces that read just like the scripts for the episodes. Which is not necessarily a bad thing, it's still Bourdain and it's still fun to read. I probably should have read a few essays and then switched to something else and then come back in order to break it up a bit. Still, enjoyable overall.
