The story drew me in right away, but about half way through, it started to lose me. In the beginning, I liked Max and Zoe. My heart broke for Zoe. Of course, Max turned into an idiot, but he was still a reasonably likable idiot. Then, about half way through the book - give or take - they both turned into whiney, insufferable boors. I started to root against both of them. The story itself also started out really well, then got to be a bit much. Some things seemed contrived. I liked the premise, but somewhere in the middle, the execution started to falter. Thankfully, Ms. Picoult was able to pull it out in the end. I have to say, I was able to predict the ending, but only about 1 page before it actually happened :). I did like the ending, and felt it redeemed the book a bit. I don't think any of Ms. Picoult's books can compare to My Sister's Keeper (at least, none that I have read so far). But this is a decent, quick read for the beach or a long, rainy weekend.
One of her better Anita stories in a LOOOOOOONG time.
