Really wanted to enjoy this book. Sounded very intersting and engaging, but just couldn't get into it. The characters were mostly annoying and had no endearing qualities. I wouldn't reccomend it at all.

Totally made me want to quit my job and do a bike trip around the world! :) I thought it was really interesting. A bit too detailed/graphic in some places, but overall I liked it.

This was a hard book to read. It was full of sex without being the slightest bit erotic - although it wasn't always vulgar, either. I think the overall tone of the book may have been muted by the translation, but overall it was a good story. I always hesitate to criticize the writing style of a book I can't read in the language in which it was written, so I'll leave that out. The characters were ridiculously flat & one-dimensional, but I kinda felt like that was the point. It was a commentary on the latter half of the 20th century in the Western world - but so despairing! I am not quite sure what to make of it. On one hand, I enjoyed the story but on the other I was appalled by not just the incredible lack of anything resembling happiness by the main characters, but the seeming belief that there really is no such thing as happiness - maybe just fleeting moments, but nothing long lasting. My review is just as disjointed as the book itself, I think....
