I read this book to satiate my love of Fitzgerald. This was his first book, and it certianly evidences growing pains. It is not at all like the Great Gatsby, in my opinion. More often than not, the young Gatsby sees himself in the main character, a lost college student and post-graduate, searching for the answers to life and unable to reconcile many of his experiences with his beliefs. Some of Fitzgerald's pontifications on political philosophy and sociology are quite worth reading.
