I'm re-reading this book now to see if it can help me remain calm about my work world...
The idea of parallel worlds has been very present in my reading lately, and is superbly touched upon in His Dark Materials. I have been looking for something I am unable to put down, and I have found it. My only regret is that there are only three books in the series. Fantastic fantasy, found in the Young Adult section, but suitable for everyone.
This is the first of the Burn Notice novels and, from what I've read, also the best. It fits the tone and style of the show to a tee. Good plot, too, which sometimes can't really be said for the later books in the series.
Told from the perspective of two kids, Return to Sender shows the difficulties encountered by both Mexican illegal workers and the families that they work for. Maria's family comes to work on a farm in Vermont when Tyler's dad is injured and cannot take care of the farm himself. Maria, through letters to her mother who is missing and others in her life, and Tyler describe the events and feelings that surround their lives as they adjust to a new life on the farm.
