American Gods is a very good book in general, but if you like mythogly of all different types, then American Gods is a great book to read. American Gods is a fictional book written by Neil Gaiman and it’s about a man named Shadow who was recently released from prison and his wife who died in an accident earlier on the day Shadow was released from prison. He is at the airport and he is having trouble readjusting to a normal lifestyle after being in prison for the last few years. The story takes places from Chicago to Wisconsin. Most of the time the weather is snowing and its very cold, its night time and sometimes early in the morning. He boards his plane and sits across from this old man named Mr. Wednesday. He starts talking to Shadow and ask him various questions. Mr. Wednesday offers Shadow a job, but Shadow denies and says he has a job waiting for him back home. Mr. Wednesday tries to convince him to accept his job offer saying he is going need this job. Shadow falls asleep wakes up and ask a flight attendant ask if he has made it back to Canton, Ohio. She says no. Shadow gets off the plane and asks where he can rent a car and get something to eat? He runs into Mr. Wednesday again in the same bar. He tells him his best died along with his wife in the same accident. Then tells him everything he thought he had left was not there and he will need job that he offered him Shadow accepts the job. They celebrate with a drink and Shadow is given a job. The job will require him to travel to complete various task by Mr. Wednesday. So throughout Shadow’s time on the job he meets some of Mr. Wednesday acquaints and some other important characters. In my full opinion American Gods is a great book for people interested in different types of mythology. I personally enjoyed the book it can rather be confusing at times and rather slow with the progression of the story, but the characters, action make up for that. So just to make a long story short American Gods is an amazing book for an all-around book reader. It has amazing story, well develop characters, and well detailed settings. Also the last few chapters in this book will throw you for a complete loop.

Heartbreaking true story of Elie Wiesel's deportation from his home in Hungary to Auschwitz as a jew during WWII. Very well written. Translation by his second wife (first died in the gas chamber at Auschwitz). Every once in a while I need a good book to remind me that my life really isn't so bad.

I loved loved loved this story. I cried at the end, but I usually do with anything of Baldwin's.
