Read this as child and enjoyed it ... Though none of his other Narnia books held the same appeal and I don't actually think I read them all. Maybe I grew out of them. Started reading this one with a student at school as her homeschool was studying it ... She got into the magic of it and I really enjoyed the time we spent sharing it. I am hoping the girl was able to finish the book at her homeschool and as it's still the Christmas break for me I was taking the time to finish the book for myself as although I knew a little of what happens at the end I couldn't remember the details. Good job also that I knew my eldest had a spare copy around in his room. I can remember when I was younger that I wanted to find a magic wardrobe and become one of the characters too ... It also happened to the girl I was sharing the book with as she came in one day with a big secret and she whispered to me,making sure no one could hear, that she'd found a wardrobe in her grandfather's room had gone in to try and find another land but her grandfather's wardrobe didn't work!!!
I was given this book because it's about fine-dining and sex-capades. I was totally enraptured at first. Then I got bored; it was about 60 pages too long. That said, the first hundred or so pages and last three paragraphs are delicious!
Excellent fast paced reading about a man charged for a muder he did not commit.
