** spoiler alert ** I really wanted to love this book. I remember enjoying Oryx and Crake a lot, and I'm a fan of Margaret Atwood in general. So when I heard that this novel told a contemporaneous story to O&C, I was excited to check it out. However, the whole thing felt flat. I know this is a nerdy reference, but I feel like the entire book was like a side quest in a video game. The interesting bits were all happening "off screen"(in the O&C narrative). Granted, since I haven't read that book in a few years, I'm sure several connections between the two stories were lost on me. And while I usually enjoy ambiguous endings, this one I found unsatisfying. If you loved the first book, consider giving this a look. Otherwise, choose Oryx and Crake, The Handmaid's Tale, or the Blind Assassin for Atwood and her best.

I have 3 words to say about the start of this book ....."Damn it Tod!" I think that was an understatement for this book. That boy has the worst timing ever. I totally understood Nash & Kaylee's frustration- I was frustrated! Though it was also kind of funny if you thought about it. The second half of the book was a lot more serious as the "gang" try & save the soul of a pop star. I love the way Rachel Vincent writes. I can visualize every detail and her characters are realistic and interesting (love Nash). Her story lines are always exciting & when I've finished the book, I always want more. 5 out of 5
